Cinnamon Rolls with Vanilla Glaze
Alexandra | September 29, 2025
These cinnamon rolls are the definition of comfort baking — pillowy-soft dough swirled with buttery cinnamon sugar and finished with a silky vanilla glaze. The scent alone is enough to make your kitchen feel like a bakery on a crisp morning. Whether served fresh from the oven or gently reheated the next day, each roll is a warm hug in pastry form. Perfect for weekend brunch, holiday mornings, or any time you crave something sweet and nostalgic.
Ingredients:
For the dough:
500g plain flour
7g instant yeast
250ml warm milk
75g unsalted butter, melted
50g granulated sugar
1 large egg
½ tsp salt
For the filling:
100g soft brown sugar
2 tbsp ground cinnamon
75g unsalted butter, softened
For the glaze:
150g icing sugar
2–3 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Make the dough: In a large bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually stir in flour until a soft dough forms.
Knead and rise: Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the filling: Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside.
Roll and fill: Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 40×25 cm). Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle evenly with cinnamon sugar.
Shape the rolls: Roll up tightly from the long side. Slice into 12 even pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
Second rise: Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Glaze: Mix icing sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls and serve.
🍯 Serving Ideas
Serve warm with a drizzle of glaze and a sprinkle of chopped pecans or orange zest for a festive twist. Pair with coffee, chai, or hot chocolate for the ultimate cozy moment. These rolls also reheat beautifully — just warm gently and enjoy with extra glaze or a spoonful of whipped cream.
